Anders Lorentzson

The Swedish bass Anders Lorentzson has recent seasons appeared as Wotan in Das Rheingold, Oroveso in Norma, Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Monterone in Rigoletto, and Daedalus in Jonathan Dove’s The Monster in the Maze, all at the Göteborg Opera. This spring Anders takes on the role of Sir Morosus in Strauss' Die schweigsame Frau on the same stage. Anders has also been a guest at the Národní Divadlo in Brno in the Czech Rebublic where he has sung Bluebeard in Bluebeard’s castle and at the Norwegian National Opera in the roles of Oroveso in Norma and Arkel in Pelléas et Mélisande.

Anders Lorentzson is engaged in the ensemble of the Göteborg Opera where he has appeared in roles like Duke Bluebeard, Kolenaty in The Markopulos Case and Banquo in Macbeth, Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro, Leporello in Don Giovanni, Osmin in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Mephistopheles in Faust, Colline in La Bohème, Scarpia in Tosca, Il re in Aida, Banco in Macbeth, Philip II in Don Carlo, Wotan in Die Walküre, Hans Sachs in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Zuniga in Carmen as well as the title roles of Der fligende Holländer and Falstaff.

Anders has several times been invited to the Royal Swedish Opera where he has performed roles such as Arkel in Pelléas et Mélisande, Sparafucile in Rigoletto, Titurel in Parsifal, Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Il Commendatore in Don Giovanni. Anders Lorentzson has also been a guest at the Metropolitan Opera in New York where he has covered for the roles of Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte and Pogner in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.

His guest appearances have also included venues like the Malmö Opera, The Drottningholm Court Theatre, The Vilnius Opera, The Savonlinna Festival, Bolshoi in Moscow, the Prague National Opera as well as opera houses in Ljubljana, Ravenna and Taipei.

On the concert platform Anders Lorentzson appears in works like Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Haydn’s The Creation and Verdi’s Requiem.
