Rebecka Wallroth

With a repertoire spanning from baroque to contemporary, including opera, Lied and oratorio, young Swedish mezzo-soprano Rebecka Wallroth is attracting increasing international attention. Rebecka has his summer made her debut at the Verbier Festival singing Cherubino in a concert version of Le nozze di Figaro. The 2023/24 season highlights included her debut at London’s Wigmore Hall through the Mozartists’ Associate Artist Scheme, her debut at the DR Koncerthuset with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra as well as her debut with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra performing Seven songs by Alma Mahler. It has also been the first of two seasons with the Berlin Staatsoper Unter den Linden’s International Opera Studio, where she has sung Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Cretan woman in Idomeneo, Second Handmaiden of Dircé in Cherubini’s Medea and Auntie in Jenůfa.

The upcoming season at Staatsoper Berlin will include Cherubino, Mercedes in Carmen, and Carlotta in Die schweigsame Frau. Rebecka also makes her debut with the Radio Symphony Orchestra in Boulanger's Faust et Hélène, conducted by Daniel Harding.

Rebecka Wallroth has been awarded with a Finalist Prize in the 2023 Queen Sonja International Singing Competition and she was the 2022 winner of both the Gesangwettbewerb Feruccio Tagliavini competition and the Karl Staud Musikpreis, as well as the second prize winner of the 2022 Wilhelm Stenhammar International Music Competition. In 2018 she won the music competition Dalasolist.

Rebecka Wallroth studied at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (MDW) where she during the season of 2022/23 performed the roles of Olga in Eugen Onegin and Idamante in Idomeneo, both at Schlosstheater, Schönbrunn. The season before included Unulfo in Händel’s Rodelinda and Agnes in Die verkaufte Braut on the same stage. In the summer of 2023 Rebecka performed the role of Lilly in the world premiere of The Ghost Factory by Daniel Nelson at the Vadstena Castle in Sweden and she joined the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra as a soloist in their summer opera concert. Rebecka was also a guest at the live broadcast Swedish Television summer concert Allsång på Skansen. In 2022, Rebecka participated in the Confidencen Opera and Music Festival Academy in Sweden, she was a soloist in concert with the Dala Sinfonietta led by Cecilia Rydinger-Ahlin and in the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra’s Christmas Concerts in Stockholm.

Rebecka has been awarded scholarships from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, Sandrews Foundation and Anny Felbermayer Foundation and she received the 2022 Joel Berglund-scholarship from the Royal Swedish Opera soloists in Stockholm.
