Daniel Johansson sings Comte Pierre Besoukhov in War and Peace at the Grand Théâtre de Genève.
The Grand Théâtre de Genève opens the season 2021-2022 and reopens to the public with Prokofiev's War and Peace. The production is staged by Spanish director Calixto Bieito and led by Alejo Pérez. The opera, based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy, will be played for the first time at the Geneva Opera with opening night on Monday September 13 with further performances until September 24.
In the role of Comte Pierre Besoukhov we hear Daniel Johansson, who sings the part for the first time. Daniel Johansson has the previous season sung Tristan in Tristan XS, a reduced version of Tristan und Isolde at Theater und Philharmonie Essen. He also appeared as Don José in Carmen and Cavaradossi in a filmed and streamed version of Tosca, both at the Royal Swedish Opera. This season will include another role debut with the role of the treasure hunter Elis in Schreker’s Der Schatzgräber at Deutsche Oper in Berlin.
