Premiere for Systrarna/The Sisters - an evening with two one-act-operas at the Malmö Opera. Elin Rombo in the title role as Suor Angelica.
Malmö Opera presents Systrarna/the Sisters - two one-act-operas played on the same evening: Puccini's Suor Angelica and the world premiere of the On the Other Side of the Sea by Catharina Backman, based on a short story by Swedish writer Birgitta Trotzig. Direction and stage design by Staffan Valdemar Holm and Bente Lykke Møller.
Both operas are performed by the same ensemble, with soloists and a female choir, led by Patrik Ringborg. Elin Rombo sings the title role in Suor Angelica and she also appears as Iris in On the Other Side of the Sea. Anton Ljungqvist sings the role of the Father in On the Other Side of the Sea.
Systrarna opens on March 26 and will be played until May 8 2022.
