Kerstin Avemo in the only role in Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire in Gothenburg.
The Göteborg Opera presents Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire from 1912, based on 21 poems by Albert Giraud. The piece is written for a soprano and five instruments, flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano and will be performed at the Small stage at the Göteborg Opera on September 25 and 26 2021.
As Pierrot Lunaire we hear soprano Kerstin Avemo. “Pierrot is the very essence of theatre. His character encompasses naivety, joy, cruelty, nostalgia, even blasphemy. Pierrot could never exist outside the theatre but inside, his freedom is total."
Kerstin Avemo commenced the season at the Suntory Hall Summer Festival in Tokyo where she performed Toshio Hosokawa’s opera "Futari-Shizuka ― The Maiden from the Sea", together with Noh-Singer Ryoko Aoki and Ensemble Intercontemporain. Kerstin has also visited the Teatro Fraschini in Pavia, Italy where she sang Schwanengesang D744.
