Christina Nilsson and Malin Byström in the title role and Daniel Johansson and Joachim Bäckström as Cavaradossi when Tosca returns to The Royal Swedish Opera.
The Royal Swedish Opera revives their production of Tosca in Knut Hendriksen's staging from 2004.
There will be two casts with Christina Nilsson and Malin Byström in the title role and tenors Joachim Bäckström and Daniel Johansson alternate in the role of Cavaradossi. We will also hear Markus Schwartz in the role of the Sacristan and John Erik Eleby appears as Sciarrone.
On the opening night on February 18, Christina Nilsson makes her role debut as Tosca and Joachim Bäckström sings Cavaradossi for the first time in a full scale production. Daniel Johansson's first performance will be on February 25 and Malin Byström, who has sung the title part several times, most recently at Covent Garden in London, will sing a total of four performances - on February 22 and 25, March 9 and April 3.
The Royal Swedish Orchestra is led by John Fiore except for the performances on March 27 and April 3 when Music Director Alan Gilbert will lead the orchestra.
Tosca will be played from February 18 until April 25.
